I love designing kids rooms, it feels a bit like a free creative licence when anything and everything goes. But as my kids seem to be rapidly going from babies to big kids before my eyes I’m conscious about creating rooms that have the flexibility to grow as they grow. In todays home edit we’re sharing a little girls room that can become a big girls room by only switching 3 things, the wall art, the floor rug and a throw blanket. Things to consider when creating a kids room that can grow with them Colour palette Choose a colour palette that you can easily add elements to to change the look,… Keep Reading
Monday Musing : You are worth it if you work for it
You are worthy Worthy of your goals and dreams, the small ones, the big ones and even the ones that scare you But the universe does not owe you anything We don’t walk into this life with credits in the bank We have to work for them You have to be brave You have to learn to be uncomfortable You have to step into the ring You have to decide your worth and declare it You are worth it, if you work for it Letterpress quote cards : Collaboration between CocoPress + Dunne with Style
DIY Nail Polish Dip Dye
Today’s DIY comes with a warning - nail polish dip dye is highly addictive! But the bonus is if you have a stash of nail polish lying around then you’ve already got half the materials list. I picked up a range of small dishes and bowls from Target for $2 a piece, which I think makes it one of the cheapest DIY’s I’ve ever done. Materials Nail Polish Ceramic dish of choice Instructions Fill up a container (that is slightly bigger than the ceramic you’ve chosen) with room temperature tap water Place drops of nail polish on the surface of the water. Apply the polish drops as close to the water… Keep Reading

You’re Melbourne finds South Melbourne Market
In the last edition of You’re Melbourne finds we went to the melting pot that is South Melbourne and at the heart of every melting pot is a market place. South Melbourne Market is one of the oldest continuing markets established in 1867 which now has a focus on supporting local producers and small creative businesses. Market mornings should begin with good coffee and in true You’re Melbourne finds style I’m adding a classic hole in the wall coffee spot to the list of favourite coffee spots. Clement Coffee keeps it simple, great coffee, great pastries, great people, what more could you ask for? Meander round the corner onto Coventry Street… Keep Reading
April Reading List
One of my goals at the beginning of the year was to read more, at heart I’m a total book worm, but I’d got stuck in the rut of saying I was ‘too busy’ to read a book despite spending the last hour of every night scrolling through my phone. With the first quarter of the year done and dusted I am proud to say that I’ve stuck with my goals, partially due to a stricter reading routine at night and no phone scrolling once I’m in bed and secondly due to my new love of Audible. I certainly don’t have hours to sit and read every day, but I… Keep Reading
Monday Musing : What If It All Turns Out Wonderful?
We can conjure up every possible scenario of why something won’t work, we can write off an idea before its even been given the chance to come to life we’re quick to listen to the devil on our shoulder But why don’t we seem to conjure up all the potential too? Because there’s two sides to every coin toss And what if it all turns out wonderful? Letterpress quote cards : Collaboration between CocoPress + Dunne with Style
Don’t lose, learn
The way we reflect upon our failures can predict their impact upon us. We can look at our failures as a reflection of ourselves. We can see the actions tied to our identity, our capability and our value. We can let them fuel fear of trying and we can allow them to change our perspectives of ourselves. Or we can begin to shift our perspective. How many best selling authors landed their first piece of writing on the NY times best sellers list? How many artists sit down in one session and create a masterpiece and walk away finished? What may look like greatness is often just the summation of… Keep Reading
Planting succulents : Easter DIY
Succulents are the ultimate non-green-thumb plant to work with, you’d be hard pressed to kill them, simply snip off a sprig and replant it and ta-dah you’ve got succulent babies and they can live for months in just a little moss too. If you loved our egg shell DIY from last week but want something thats going to last a little longer then succulents are the answer. These made great centrepieces in their dodo vine nests sitting up in the West Elm animal print bowls in this Easter table and are a great project for kids to get involved in too. Materials: Empty eggshells Moss (available from most florists) Succulent cuttings… Keep Reading
Hot Cross Buns
My favourite thing about Easter is the smell of Hot Cross Buns that lingers in my parents house as my mum whips ups batches of hot cross buns for everyone that comes past the house. Her tried and trusted recipe is this one from Simply No Knead, I omit the sugar as I find them sweet enough with the dried fruit but I think mum still sneaks it in. For years mums hot cross buns always tasted WAY better than mine despite us both using the same recipe, so I quizzed her for her secret sauce and found out its all about the fruit. The recipe calls for 1 1/2 cups of… Keep Reading
